On November 15–16, 2025, the legal team of Alex Heckscher, Esq. of Reid & Wise attended the 2025 Huaxia Chinese School Teachers Conference in Princeton, New Jersey, as a VIP guest and sponsor, at the formal invitation of the Huaxia Chinese School. More than 300 Chinese-language teachers and school administrators from 22 branch schools gathered to exchange ideas on innovation in Chinese-language education and school management. As one of the supporters of this event, we were honored to sponsor and take part in this influential gathering of the Chinese-language education community, continuing our long-term commitment to the Chinese American community and Chinese-language education.
Huaxia Chinese School is the largest Chinese school system in North America, with 22 branch schools across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, and a 30-year history. Notably, a representative of the Chinese Consulate General in New York delivered congratulatory remarks, reflecting the event's influence and standing in the field of Chinese-language education. In addition, education experts and lecturers from institutions including Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Beijing Language and Culture University gave presentations on trends in educational innovation and the future of overseas Chinese-language education. With its long-standing dedication to passing on the Chinese language and culture, Huaxia Chinese School has become a benchmark for professional, systematic Chinese-language education in North America.
Alex Heckscher is not only a New York-licensed attorney but also a fluent Chinese speaker — known to the Chinese community by his Chinese name, He Xiande (何显德). For many years, he has served as ongoing legal counsel to the Huaxia Chinese School headquarters, providing legal opinions and practical support to its branch schools. At the conference, teachers from several branch schools came forward to thank our team for its professional assistance over the years, noting that our legal advice has not only resolved practical problems but also given school administrators greater confidence in dealing with parents, partner organizations, and day-to-day operations. This once again demonstrates that a lawyer's value lies not only in litigation, but also in the daily operation and risk protection of an educational system. For overseas Chinese schools, everyday matters such as facility leases, teacher employment arrangements, and agreements with parents and partner organizations all call for a clear legal framework — and timely, professional legal advice often resolves risks before they become problems.
With a deep understanding of the cultural differences between China and the United States, Alex has long been committed to serving as a bridge between the two communities, helping Chinese families and educational institutions in the U.S. build clear legal frameworks, risk awareness, and institutional safeguards — striving to be "a lawyer who understands you." As a Chinese-speaking lawyer in New York, he and our team combine professional legal capability with the ability to communicate directly in Chinese, explain complex legal concepts in plain language, and offer practical, workable solutions grounded in the realities of local education and family life. This is precisely why many clients choose us.
We know that running educational programs overseas is not easy. Being able to participate in and sponsor this event, and to receive such warm recognition from teachers, strengthens our resolve to keep standing with educators and to continue supporting the Chinese American community, U.S.–China communication, and Chinese-language education.
