Oliver Yang is the Chair of the firm’s Immigration Practice Group, where he leads a dynamic team specializing in complex U.S. immigration matters. Mr. Yang provides strategic counsel to a diverse clientele, including individuals, investors, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, multinational corporations, and emerging businesses. His practice spans the full spectrum of U.S. immigration law, with a particular focus on investment-based and employment-based immigration. He has extensive expertise in areas such as EB-5, L-1/EB-1C, EB-1A, NIW, H-1B, PERM, TN, E-2, family-based immigration, mandamus litigation, consular processing, and adjustment of status. His excellence has been recognized repeatedly, including accolades from Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (2021-2024) and EB-5 Investor Magazine Top Rising Stars (2021, 2024).

As a thought leader in the business immigration field, Mr. Yang is highly sought after for his counsel on the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program and E-2 Treaty Investor Visa. He has advised on every stage of the EB-5 process, representing both regional centers and project developers, as well as thousands of individual EB-5 investors. His expertise includes post-RIA compliance and filings such as I-956, I-956F, I-956G, and I-956K submissions. For investors, he excels in preparing and filing I-526 petitions, responding to complex Requests for Evidence (RFEs), guiding clients through consular interviews, filing I-829 petitions for condition removal, and navigating appeals for denial cases. Additionally, Mr. Yang has developed a niche specialization in securing E-2 visas for investors leveraging third-country Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programs, earning recognition as a leading authority in this domain.

Mr. Yang’s thought leadership extends to his prolific writing on emerging trends and nuanced topics in immigration law. His published works address critical issues such as EB-5 source of funds, E-2 visa strategies for CBI investors, border entry challenges for lawful permanent residents, and the International Entrepreneur Parole Program. Before joining the firm, Mr. Yang practiced at one of the nation’s premier immigration law firms, where he represented individuals and corporations in high-stakes immigrant and non-immigrant matters. Earlier in his career, he gained experience in consumer bankruptcy and commercial litigation, interning for a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge and a member of the Virginia House of Delegates.

Mr. Yang earned his LL.B. from Renmin University of China School of Law and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. As an immigrant who came to the United States as an adult, he brings a unique perspective and empathetic understanding of the challenges faced by new immigrants.
