Oliver Yang is the co-chair of the firm’s immigration department. Mr. Yang advises individuals, investors, entrepreneurs, high net worth individuals, and businesses on all areas of U.S. immigration law, with a focus on investment-based and employment-based immigration. He was recognized in the 2021 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch and EB-5 Investor Magazine Top 5 Rising Stars.
As an emerging leader in the investment immigration industry, Mr. Yang assists entrepreneurial clients in creating or investing in job-creating entities in the U.S. through the EB-5 visa program and the E-2 treaty investor visa. Mr. Yang has substantial experience in all stages throughout the EB-5 process, including the preparation and filing of I-526 petitions, filing a response to requests for evidence, preparing clients for consular processing interviews, filing I-829 condition removal petitions, and filing appeals of complex denials. Mr. Yang has also successfully represented many clients in obtaining E-2 treaty investor visa approvals from USCIS and many consulates all over the world. He is recognized as one of the experts on obtaining the E-2 visa through a third-country Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program. As a prolific writer, Mr. Yang has published an array of articles on trending immigration law issues, including EB-5 source of funds, E-2 visa for CBI investors, border entry challenges for green card holders amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and the International Entrepreneur Parole Program. He has also presented at various industry conferences both in the US and abroad. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Yang was an attorney at one of the top immigration law firms in the U.S., Klasko Immigration Law Partners, LLP, for 8 years and zealously represented both individuals and corporations in a wide range of immigrant and non-immigrant matters, including EB-5, E-2, L-1/EB-1C, EB-1A, NIW, H-1B, PERM, TN, family immigration, mandamus litigation, consular processing, and adjustment of status. Before becoming an immigration attorney, Mr. Yang practiced consumer bankruptcy and commercial litigation, and previously interned for a U.S. bankruptcy judge and a Virginia House of Delegates member. Mr. Yang also worked for a large Chinese law firm as a summer associate of the firm’s International Trade Department while he was attending law school in China. Mr. Yang received his LL.B. from Renmin University of China School of Law, and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. As an immigrant himself who came to the U.S. as an adult, Mr. Yang understands the issues and challenges faced by many new immigrants. He is known for his creative approaches when handling challenging cases that require personal attention and meticulous representation. |
